Continuing the second Half of:
Islamic Reform and Renewal in the West
A re-analysis of "Bayan Wujub al Hijra alal Ibad" by Shehu Usman Dan Fodio
What is Reformative Ijtihaad and how is it applied in the Western context?
What traditional models of Reform and Renewal can Muslims in the West use to re-structure and preserve their communities?
What is the legal ruling of living among and befriending disbelievers?
Is it obligatory to appoint an imam? If so, what is required of an imam?
What are the principles of Islamic Wilaya?
These are all the issues and questions that will be addressed in a series of classes. Outlining a vision and way forward by examining Shehu Usman Dan Fodio's fatwa on emigration is the primary focus of this course.
The student will have access to pre-recorded videos for each class session by Shaykh Mujahid Abdul-Karim. Students will be able to ask questions and offer responses on Google Classroom. These lessons address crucial and important issues facing Muslims in the West. The text of the Bayan forces us to ask the hard questions and face them head-on. This course was suspended after the first half of the text due to the content of the second half of the text. We will continue the second half and the completion of the text at a venue to be announced. This will be a dynamic series of courses that you do not want to miss!
