COURSE OFFERINGS: Fall 2020 (Begins October 10th)

Resident students can select up to two courses plus a Kitaab al Assasi Book 1(Arabic Lang Center). Resident students are required to follow the given sequence of courses for each subject for the completion of the program. Non-Resident students are not held to any course limit or examinations or memorization requirements, however, they must meet the pre-requisites for each each course.  Most courses in on Elementary level are taught using English as mode of instruction while using the Arabic text and commentaries. 

                                                                       RESIDENT STUDENTS

Nahw 1A- Ajrumiyya(nadthm of Ahmadu Bamba):  This course will be an introductory course to Arabic Grammar.  The text used will the nadthm of the Ajrumiyya called “Sa’aadutul Tullaab” by Shaykh Ahmadu Bamba Mbacke.  This is a beautiful versification of the original text that will aid in the ease of memorization for the student.  This is easily the best nadthm of the Ajrumiyya in Islamic literature. Sarf 1A- Shadhf Arf fi Fann al Sarf: - This course will introduce the student to the science of verb morphology.  This is an essential course that will compliment the studies in grammar.  The text used for this course will be  "Kitab Shadhf al- Urf fi Fan al-Sarf" by Ustadh Shaykh Ahmad Hamlawi.(Shaykh Muhammad Abdus Sabur)

Tasawuf 1A- Matharatul Quluub:  The Matharatul Quluub is a text that has gained notable popularity among students of knowledge in that it beautifully presents all the diseases of the heart along with the causes and curses. The author, the great scholar of Mauritania, Muhammad Mauluud, deals with each disease of the heart in alphabetical order. This course will provide the student with the required knowledge of what tasawuf means and its application. (Shaykh Mujahid Abdul-Karim)

Mantiq 1A- Sullam Akhdari:  This course will introduce the student to the science of Mantiq, or Logic.  The text traditionally used for this course will be the "Sullam" by Sidi Abdur Rahman al-Akhdari.  This will prove to be a very important and beneficial course for our students as they advance in their studies. Aqidah 1A- Risalah of Ibn Abi Zayd al Qarawaani(Sharh Ahmad Zaruqq)  This course will detail the Muslim Creed from one of the most famous texts in Islamic literature.  This course will use the commentary of the well known scholar of the Maaliki school, Shaykh Ahmad Zarruq. Maaliki Track 1A

Fiqh 1A-  This course is in two parts. The first part we will start off our journey into the realm of Fiqh with the Matn of Al-Akhdari. The text used will be the commentary called "Manhul Ali fi sharh al Kitab al Akhdari" by Shakyh Muhammad Salim al-Majlisi ash-Shanquitti.  This text focuses primarily on Purification and Salaat.  This is the best commentary on this text and is from a well known Mauritanian scholar whose tribe is famous for their knowledge.  As a supplementary text we use the nadthm of Ahmadu Bamba "Jawhar an Nafees". This will facilitate and ease memorization.  The second part of this course will be the Matn of Ibn Ashir known as Murshid Mu'iin.  The commentary used will be the  "Hashiya of Sidi Hamdoun Ibnul Hajj on the commentary of Sidi Mayyara" (Shaykh Mujahid Abdul-Karim)

Shaafi'i Track 1A

Fiqh 1AThe text for this course will be the al-Muqaddimat al-Hadramiyyah.  Students are introduced to the discipline of fiqh and its history and learn the rulings of purification and prayer relied upon for issuing fatwas in the Shafii school. Students will gain a firm grounding in how to worship correctly and be able to confidently answer all of the basic questions related to the topics covered.(Shaykh Nasir Abdusalaam)

Hadith Science 2A- Ikhtisar Ulum al Hadith(Ibn Kathir) Students are introduced to hadith terminology, including a basic overview of the historical development of hadith transmission, the methodologies of hadith scholars in their works, and the relationship between hadith sciences and the principles of jurisprudence. Students will gain an appreciation for the preservation of the Sunnah—one of history’s greatest intellectual achievements, learn responses to the objections of those who cast aspersions on the corpus of hadith, and properly understand the practical implications of judging a hadith. Hadith Science 3A- Tala’atul Anwaar(Sidi Abdullah as Shanquitti)-  This course will continue the study of Mustalahaat al-Hadith.  The text used for this course will be the famous commentary by the great Mauritanian scholar Sidi Abdullah Ibn Ibrahim al-Alawi ash-Shanquitti entitled "Tala'atul Anwaar". This class will be taught in Arabic only. (Shaykh Bwee ash-Shanquitti)

Seerah 2A- This course will utilize the text "Fiqh us-Seerah" by Shaykh Ramadan al-Buti.  The study of the life of Prohet Muhammad(saws) is brought to life and given a proper understanding with this text.  Ramadan al-Buti masterfully provides the student with the necessary tools in order to understand its meaning and importance in our lives as Muslims. An essential study for all subsequent texts on Seerah.(Shaykh Saleh Clemons)


Fiqh 1A - Tazawuddi Sighar of Ahmadu Bamba Mbacke- This a dynamic text that covers all three aspects of the Islam.  It is primarily written for young people at the beginning level.  Beautifully written and explained.  Excellent text to begin with and to memorize.  Audio recitation and pdf of the text are provided.  


Fiqh  1A- Murshid Muiin/Matn Ibn Ashir(Sharh Mayyara) This is the famous text of the Maaliki school.  Explained using the commentary of Sidi Mayyara.  Explains the three aspects of Islam.  Should be studied after The Matn of Al-Akhdari. 

Fiqh 2B- Risalah of Ibn Abi Zayd Ongoing class with Shaykh Mujahid . This is the well known text of the Maaliki school written by "Little Maalik" as the author was known.  It covers Aqidah and the chapters of Fiqh on the intermediate level.

Fiqh 2B- Siraaj us-Saalik(Ja'ali) Ongoing Class with Shaykh Mujahid.  This text is used as a supplementary text to the Risalah, however, it is written as a nadthm and is an excellent primer to the more advanced texts.


Usul al-Fiqh 1A- Nadthm Waraqaat(Muhammad Ibn Mukhtar ash-Shanquitti) This is the nadthm to the famous text of Imam Juwayni.  It is short but full of beneficial information.  Easy to memorize.  Excellent introduction to the study of Usul al Fiqh.


Aqidah 2A- Jawharatul Tawhid(Laqqaani) The famous text of the Ashari Kalaam School of Thought.  Explained using the commentary by Imam as-Sawi.  Intermediate to advanced text.  

Nahw 2B- Qatru Nadaa of Ibn Hisham This is the primer to the Alfiyya of Ibn Maalik.  This is a foundational text in the study of Arabic Grammar.  Extremely important and beneficial.  Prerequisite is the Ajrumiyya.


All courses are $50 monthly due by the 10th of each month.
